Ozzie sure can do math
« on: February 23, 2010, 12:29:12 PM »
''We can create more runs,'' Guillen said. ''In the past, yeah, we could score 10, but all of a sudden, when we need to score one, we can't. That's why our philosophy changed.

''We have a bunch of guys in the lineup who can hit 20-plus home runs. I would rather have 10 guys hit 20 home runs than have one guy hit 50."

Let me understand this.  He would prefer having a lineup that produces 200 home runs to having a lineup that produces 50 home runs.  You know, he's got something there.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

Are there any teams built around having one player hit 50 home runs a season while the rest hit zero?
Take that, Adolf Eyechart.

And probably a few of the teams that Babe Ruth was on.

Was actually my first thought as well. You could make the case for '20 and '21, but after that he had Gehrig.

Amazing.  He's figured out a way to get 10 guys into a 9 person game.

In the AL, the pitcher doesn't bat and literally hits zero home runs.

I think he's counting on Peavy to do some serious damage during inter-league play.

Buehrle hit one off of Looper in Miller Park last year.  It was glorious.
