All the handwringing over the "tough decision" on who goes to make room for Soriano was hilarious. Everyone forgot about E-Jax.

I don't think anyone forgot about him. There's just not too many teams willing to pay a guy that much money not to be on the team. This is a nice statement from Ricketts about putting winning over everything

Pretty sure Ricketts understands writing off bad debt. Don't think this says anything new about commitment to winning.

Maybe that's all it is, but the Sox are still trotting John Danks out there every fifth day. The Phillies keep starting Ryan Howard (not that they're competitive at all, but still), the Yankees haven't even moved CC Sabathia to the bullpen yet. Not every owner is willing to eat that much money for a guy they aren't even rostering.

http://www.sporcle.com/games/htimsetan/cubs_opening_day_lineups I got 217/225.

Missed the starting pitcher for 1996, the starting LF for 93-94, CF for 1993, SS for 2000, RF for 2012, CF for 2013, and 2B for 2013.

WHO CAN TOP ME.

Damn, that is impressive. I came in at a measly 134. This season was the only one where I got the full lineup.

Huey really needs to take this test and smoke you with a perfect score. The 2B for 2013 is definitely hilarious - it's amazing how quickly I've wiped the 2012-2014 teams from my memory.

You seriously got a 217?  Wow.

I got 188.  Memory is a funny thing--at least mine is.  I had a harder time recalling players from 2006-2010 than I did from 1991-1995.

Yeah, basically this. I ended up with 172. Ran the table on 1991-1995 once I figured out how to spell Buechele. No problems remembering Damon Berryhill and Hector Villanueva. But then I forgot about guys like Pena, Izturis and DeJesus. 1999-2002 was my worst section. Who the hell is Jose Nieves?

You don't remember Joe Snow?

I remember him, but I never would've guessed he was in an Opening Day lineup.

Yeah what the heck happened to Ricky Gutierrez that he didn't start on Opening Day in 2000?

And yeah I struggled the hardest with the 2012-2013 Cubs. I thought for sure Bryan Lahair started 2012 opening day at first base but it was Jeff Baker. Was it Brent Lilibridge or Blake DeWitt that Slaky hated with the fire of a thousand suns? Probably both.

Oleg, of all people, carried around a HATEBONER for DeWitt.

I have zero, and I mean absolutely zero, recollection of Brent Lilibridge. I thought I did, but it was Blake DeWitt I was thinking of.

How could anyone forget the dwarf that Apex renamed Brent Littlebitch?

BRENT NILLIBRIDGE.
I'll see that and raise you one Tyler Teagarden.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

Seriously?  Goddammit, I'm going to see the I-Cubs tonight.  Who am I going to boo now?*  I'll have to change my password at work, now, too.  Who do we want the Cubs to get rid of next?

He's not. He plays for Nashville whom the I Cubs are playing. He took the loss last night I believe

Pfft.  I'm no expert.  He hit some balls hard, hit a screaming double, and made a couple of really nice plays at short: he's a very smart fielder and made the Nashville baserunners look fucking silly more than once.  He could do worse than choose a salad once in a while.

Seriously, for all I know about it, he looked a class apart and more than ready to come back to the bigs.
