CHICAGO – Chicago Cubs broadcasters Len Kasper and Bob Brenly will team up outside the broadcast booth to host the third annual Len & Bob Bash on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at the House of Blues in downtown Chicago.
This year’s Len & Bob Bash will feature the internationally known artist The Hold Steady. Created in 2004, Brooklyn-based The Hold Steady are known for their mixture of classic rock, folk and hip-hop, and have rapidly gained international acclaim. The band is currently touring in the United Kingdom and will begin a tour in Australia after their performance at the Bash.
“Bob and I are tremendously excited to have The Hold Steady headline this year’s Bash. It shows what a great annual event this has become and how we attract the best in music from around the country,†Kasper said. “It’s such a fun way to kick off Cubs Convention weekend and to raise money for Chicago Cubs Charities.”
Tickets for the Bash are now available on the House of Blues Web site, www.HOB.com. Tickets are $31. Doors for the 21 and over show open at 7:30 p.m.
The event is made possible through the support and efforts of sponsors Bud Light, House of Blues, WGN Sports and the Chicago Cubs. Proceeds benefit Chicago Cubs Charities.
Since 2006, the Len & Bob Bash has raised more than $70,000 for Chicago Cubs Charities. The funds benefited a number of organizations including the Illinois chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Baseball Assistance Team and Project 3000.
The 2009 Cubs Convention will be held January 16-18, 2009, at the Hilton Chicago.

Since the Hank White Fan Club is being liquidated, we couldn’t offer up a benefaction?
Sounds like a good time for any out-of-towners, I’m sure. Live music at HOB on Thursday, then toast the greatness that has been Hank the next night.
If you people haven’t seen my band the Hold Steady live, a $31 donation to cubs charities is a GREAT deal to see a show that will wreck your shit. Be it known, I am a humongous Twins homer.
Great band. You will never have as much fun as you do at a Hold Steady show. It will be worth your time and the charity aspect just makes it that much better.
So between WGN, Bud Light, the Cubs and the House of Blues, the team some how has to cut payroll for the team but a concert is good idea to raise money. Interesteing. . .
