OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Quote"It's been a little difficult, to say the least," Baker said. "I've always been used to having stability as a manager, both in San Francisco and Chicago. Obviously, there hasn't been a whole lot of that this season. This team looks nothing like what we thought we had coming out of spring training, and many things have changed. I don't see too many teams who have taken the hits we've taken this year."

Some things never change.  What a whiny bitch.

What the fuck is he even talking about?  The only player that missed time and can be considered good (not so much this year...) is Harang.  And I'm sure pitching him in that extra inning game on one days rest might of had something to do with his injury or poor performance.

Look at this list of guys that had DL stints for the reds this year R. Freel, N. Hopper, D. Weathers, J. Burton, A. Gonzalez, K. Merker, J. Keppinger, J. HAIRSTON JR., D. Ross, J. Cabrera, And J. Fogg.  Boy those are some tough "hits" to get over.

Thank god Dusty's not our problem anymore.

This doesn't have to do with the Central, buh...

QuoteESPN's Buster Olney says the Phillies have acquire Joe Blanton from the A's for three minor leaguers.

Joe Blanton = bad. Career road numbers: 4.78 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, .290 Opponents Batting Average. And now he's going to make half his starts in a launching pad. He can't be worse than Eaton Pussy or the Wife Beater have been, but he probably won't be significantly better.

I wanted the Cubs to get him at one point but then I looked at his road/home splits and realized that he is really not that good.

Bump.

If anyone's interested in either of the two Bears preseason games, I have three tickets for each game (8/7 and 8/21).  I know, I know.  Who wants to pay full price to go see preseason football, where the starters barely play a whole half.  Still, I've found people in the past that were glad to take them and spend a summer day in Chicago.  Of course, that was back in the day when the preseason games were on Saturdays.  Thanks alot, NFL, for continuing to charge full price while moving them to Thursday.

Still, if anyone's interested, lemme know.  I won't hold my breath.

How much are they?

Polyellon's piss breaks = the true power behind the Chicago Cubs:

And not that I'm superstitious or anything, but in each of the three night games this week, the Cubs have been trailing going into the bottom of the 7th, and I have taken that opportunity to visit the men's room. And each night, the Cubs have mounted a comeback after that. Just sayin'.

And all of you should pitch in so I can take my son more often. His personal record is now 6-0. (And he got two baseballs during BP last night.) I'll have a game thread up in a few hours.

Clearly, this is a sign.  You must live in the bathroom 24/7 until the Cubs win the World Series.

Even if it doesn't happen this year.

Or next year.

We need to find out if she was a Red Sox or Tards fan.  I am going to take an educated guess and say...

Whatever.  This just might work.

How can this be the boyfriend fault?  How in the hell can you make someone sit on toilet for TWO FUCKING years?  But then again how do you let some psycho sit on your toilet seat that long??  Man there is some weird people out there!

Is it game used?  That would be a very rare find!

Do we need to now change this thread to 'Gangne and other stories from the rancid NLC?'

I was watching that game just to watch Gagne implode and he didn't disappoint.  But to be fair to him the umpires were not his friends in that game.  First Michael Bourn was called safe on a bang-bang play at 1st..but he was clearly out.  Then the home plate ump had a pea sized strike zone (I wasn't watching the whole game so maybe it was like that for both teams) which made him walk a few too many hitters.

When I was in Korea, I was usually drunk before 5 AM.  That was when the Cubs games would come on around then, and I was incapable of handling the 2006 team sober.

So was the manager.

Drunk don't slump, dude.

http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/cincinnatireds/entries/2008/04/28/krivskys_final_say.html

QuoteOne of the things he wants known is that Dusty Baker was his choice to manage the Reds and he told owner Bob Castellini at the time, "Dusty Baker is my man and he is the guy for the job." And Krivsky added, "It was my recommendation and Bob agreed."

Quote"When Homer Bailey didn't make the team and Matt Belisle was injured, who did we have for our fifth starting spot? Nobody," he said. "That's where Fogg fit in. He made $3.7 million from the Rockies last year."

And then there was the $3 million paid to outfielder Corey Patterson.

"I was told to get him signed, whatever it takes," said Krivsky, who signed him for $3 million. Patterson was paid $4.7 million last year.

Wayne Krivsky needs to GM another team in the NL Central (except the Cubs) again. And soon. St. Louis could use someone with his talent.

QuoteWell, hey, now that we've seen Toronto eat about $10 million to dump Frank Howard and the penny-pounding Pittsburgh Pirates pour Heinez ketchup on $10 million for Matt Morris and eat it, how bad is Stanton's $3.5 million?

Frank Howard got cut by the BJ's?

DPD.

This is encouraging. The Pirates need to stick with Morris.

Quote"As long as we feel there's still an ability in there to get people out, we're going to continue to let Matt be a starting pitcher for us," general manager Neal Huntington said last night. "If we get to the point where we just don't think he can compete, then we obviously have to make a move at that point."

Are they getting close?

"At this point, we're not all that close, which I know the fans don't want to hear. We're not close to deciding that Matt is done, because that's essentially what you'd be deciding. Maybe he could go somewhere else and click. We want to make sure we exhaust all opportunities right here."

Well I guess Morris finally proved to the Pirates that he sucks.  What a dumb ass trade that was last year...

Top 9th and Top 10th were mild harshes to my opening day mellow (and I wansn't thrilled about Kerry coming in in a 0-0 tie), but Fukudome-san is a good thing.

The fact that baseball is back is a better thing.

Bob made a good point.  With Kerry's history, if they get him up, they're probably going to use him.

But what do I know?  With the goddamn rain, my DVR recorded exactly the first 8 innings.

I planned ahead and recorded WGN all the way through AFHV...I figured worst case I get to see someone get hit in the nuts by a 4 year old....

QuoteAccording to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves have signed Scott Spiezio to a minor league deal.  Spiezio, 35, hit .269/.354/.386 in 223 ABs for the Cardinals last year.

Spiezio was released by the Cards in February when they learned of his arrest warrant related to a drunk-driving incident in December.  The Cardinals paid him $2.4MM to go away.

It doesn't mention what color he's going to dye is ball warmer.

Are you talking about Edmonds?  He's in SD now..but he likes to go with the ghay blonde highlights....

Lloyd McClendon (1990)
so we've got Larry Bowa, Terry Francona, Lloyd McClendon, Tony Larussa, who are we missing to great the all sucky x-cub future manager team?

We also have mentioned Jim Tracy, Don Zimmer, Lee Elia, Davey Lopes, and Joe Girardi.
