OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Imagine 10 years ago if someone had told you that the Cubs would have a guy who would score from second on a sac fly in one game, then score from first on a strikeout the next game, and the basic reaction would be, "Well, yeah. That's what he does."

Or run from first back to home so a run could score, then wind up on second.

... The TV lineup Friday night was so bad that I paid $3.99 to rent Zardoz for 48 hours.

The penis is mightier than the sword.

If a Bond Marathon is all there is, then so be it.

But the production values on this thing are just awful, obvious money sinks notwithstanding. For me, the highlight was during the final underwater battle -- for some reason, they cut to a two-second cameo from some sort of colorful crustacean. I dunno, Ogdens, but maybe it had a semantic payload.

Yeah, but Tonk's fellow Welshman Tom Jones gives us an A+ theme song.

...I've been binge-watching "Episodes" on Netflix, and Matt LeBlanc is...good?

Cubs Legend Wayne Terwilliger, 95.

I think this brings the number of surviving Brooklyn Dodgers down to 13.

OK, I'm pretty hard up for entertainment down here trying to manage my father's estate or, more properly, just get a damn handle on things. The psychological wobbliness* was sadly predictable, given that I just had to excuse myself from a freaking psych ward, but it was fairly well managed with the Harry Potter marathon, and Vin Diesel was helping here and there, but, man oh man, this entry has moved me to mamesh sadness for Lee Marvin and Chuck Norris.

I managed to miss the part that comes before the denoument because I was indulging in this composition, but Shelley Winters looked great as a saving grace.

*It's innocent. Just. Don't. Start.

Without having seen the remake, I can already safely say there's nothing in there that matches Marvin's "TAKE EM DOWN!!!" in the original.

And somehow, George Kennedy kicks nobody's ass. But you know he could.

Very cool series on Netflix. So far I've seen the episodes on

  • Calcio Storico In Florence
  • the Highland Games (something even a proud Welshman like Tonk would appreciate)
  • Filipino freediving
  • Austin womens' roller derby
  • Something called Kok Boru, a game from Kyrgyzstan that's basically polo. Except instead of mallets and a ball, they use a dead goat.

I've only got three episodes left. None of which, sadly, include an installment on 16" softball.
