OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

I can forgive the guy for running on to the field to attack Myers. After all,  Myers was for shit in his final season with the Cubs, and kept giving up big hits as an undeserving Cubs team fought to stay alive.

No, I don't have a problem with that.  It's the Red Sox lettering that makes my sack itch.  What could possibly be going through this douchebag's head other than "I'm a giant douchebag.  Red Sox font.  Douchebag.  Me."?

BC, this isn't a healthy outlook you have.  There are folks here who have gotten kicked in the nuts definitely a few times over the past several decades who don't have nearly the bleak outlook you have.  Hell, I bet they somewhat expect it.

You're a young kid.  Hell, one could argue that the Cubs have actually been a somewhat successful franchise in your lifetime.  You really should learn to just enjoy this ride.

Get some prespective, man.  It's good for you.

The only thing that can give us perspective are large-scale disasters that kill a lot of people.

Duh.

And athletes dying young.

If the Cubs are on the verge of clinching the division in early September, I'm sure we might lose the emcee of a charity golf outing that I'm involved with.

If they're on the verge in early September, that means they're 20 games up.

And the CARDINALS are still in our division.

And if you want to see how a bad deal can hamper a team up close, wait until we're paying Soriano $18 million in 2014.

If we have won it all by then, I'll be too busy farting in silk to care.

It is indeed John Murray, the man who attacked Randy Myers.

What a douche.  He was annoyed that Slezak asked him if he was the same guy.  Claims McDonough knows it's him.

QuoteMurray's brick says: "Sorry Cubs fans, Sept. 28, 1995."

Why would we care?  WE wanted to kill Myers at the time.  Pussy.

In spite of the Carnival Barker's alleged support, this hopefully sinks this asswipe.  I mean seriously--it's RED SOX FONT!!!!  What a phony.

And kudos to our favorite man-hating wannabe Trixie for busting this schmoe.
And yet where was this noted first?

The only site you'll ever etc. etc.

C'mon.  You think she trolls here?  With the beating she takes?

Of course maybe that's why her profile photo it looks like she's been crying for 2 weeks.

I'm not watching the game, but doing crap in the kitchen where I'm listening to the new guy and Ronnie (Pat must be having the mother of all steamers...new guy sounds like he's doing the whole broadcast).  I noticed that Bengie Molina stole third.  According to Santo, Cedeno had NO IDEA what he was doing, as he came in for the SAC but didn't keep an eye on Molina so he could backtrack to the bag.

I could just picture it.  His dumbfounded look.  According to Santo, it seemed that he didn't even know what he did wrong, or that he did anything wrong at all.

Today's Dose...very timely.  I gotta imagine Lou's "Cedeno Countdown" is going 7...6...5...4...

Nice pants-shitting.  Walked Looper when he was giving up an out, walked Lassie after 1-2, hit Pujuols (so it wasn't ALL bad).  then a granny to Baby Huey (no relation, assholes).

When did Matt Clement come back?

I met Keyes when he was out campaigning at the Wheaton train station that year.  All I could think was if he had to campaign this hard in the DuPage County seat, he was completely f@#$ed.

If memory serves, he got 10%.

Of a US Senate race.

With no incumbent.

Even the suburbs rejected him.  The only ones who liked him were the gun totin' downstaters who loved his talk on morality (despite his having a lesbian daughter and for, well, sounding like an uptight three-dollar queer himself if there ever was one).  Funny, because if these crackers opened their eyes, they'd have noticed that he was black and that their grandparents didn't take too kindly to his "kind".  What a world.

Well, there is a John P. Murray who lists an address at 926 S. Spring in LaGrange who gave $600 to Durkin for U.S. Senate in 2002 and lists his occupation as a CBOT trader.

Just sayin'.

A Cook County Republican? And a contributor to a sound-alike candidate, to boot?

Ouch.

Durkin = Democrat
And is LaGrange Cook or DuPage?

Dick Durbin is a Democrat.

Jim Durkin was the sound-alike candidate Judy and her Republican Juggernaut put up against Durbin in 2002.

Geez I can't believe I made that mistake.

Sorry.  I feel like such a Barrett.

Exhibiting just why the Republicans had Durkin run.  It really was their only shot.

Yes but no nearly as entertaining as 2004 when they thought they would confuse the voters by throwing up another black dude to go against Obama.

That Alan Motherfucking Keyes campaign was comedy gold.

Just think, if, no when the Cubs sweep the Tardbirds that'll mean at least a tie for 1st place at the end of the weekend since The Spew Crew are still on the road for 4 more which'll mean at least 2 losses. f@#$ it, I'm giving them too much credit. The just lost 3 of 4 at f@#$ing Cincy. As much as I hate to say it, let's just send Milwaukee on it's way with the Tards sweeping 4 and they'll really start that death-spiral from the top of the division. I promise that this is about the only time you'll ever hear me saying that I want the Tards to sweep or even win a game.

I'm not even thinking about stopping at Home Depot in the morning to pick up a blue broom to put into the Cards' fan's cube at work - to match the ones in the Sux fans' cubes from earlier this summer.

Wait, so you work on a chain gang?

Those potholes don't fix themselves, you know.

Wait, you mean potholes sometimes get fixed?

You should see the hole for pot we did in Barrington

Dang.  I's a call you butter cuz you on a roll today.

Way to tie in TWO threads together.  If JD were still alive, he'd be so proud.

I'm not even thinking of how much fun it would be to openly mock people I know who are Cardinal fans.

I made through two paragraphs.  Ugh...

The bulk of it is just recounting the Cubs' surge, so (despite comparing this year to "2003 and '04, when the Cubs were star-crossed contenders" -- '04? kill me now) it's not entirely awful. E.g.:

QuoteIn his team's first 97 games, Piniella had used 84 different lineups, just none as different as the one he used last Friday against the Diamondbacks and 2006 Cy Young winner Brandon Webb. Piniella gave first baseman Scott Moore, called up from Triple A Iowa earlier that day, his first big league start of the season and used batboy-sized second baseman Mike Fontenot in the third spot in the lineup for the first time in Fontenot's career. Asked what advice he received from Lee, the normal No. 3 hitter, who was serving a five-game suspension for a June 16 fight with San Diego Padres' pitcher Chris Young, Fontenot replied, "Hit some singles and steal some bases."

Even the discussion of our friendly neighborhood professional douchebag might've even been worthwhile had they either confirmed or denied our suspicions as to his true identity and checkered past.

But no such luck:

QuoteThe blue Lance Armstrong-style IT'S GONNA HAPPEN bracelets in DeRosa's locker aren't worth much now, but if 2007 turns into the Summer of Cub, they could turn to gold on eBay someday. They were sent to DeRosa by John Murray, a commodities trader who trademarked the slogan with Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics in mind and now hawks his wares outside Wrigley and on the Internet. Unlike the Cubs' playoff chances, of course, the bracelets are in the bag. "I don't know if I'm going to go as far as to start wearing one," DeRosa said, "but I think it's pretty neat."

Sometimes, if not inevitably, "it" happens. Even to swaggering Cubbies.

f@#$ me.

Again, letter time. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't John Murray the same commodities broker who ran onto the field to attack Randy Myers?"

One woud think.  I'm conflicted since I kinda like what that guy did.

Haven't read the article.  I try not to get too big of a case of the Angries 1/2 hour before an appointment.

And letter-writing won't help.  It's too late.  Toothpaste is out of the tube and all that.  Just brace yourself.

Still wouldn't hurt if somebody wrote up a standard letter and we all sent it with whatever variations we felt like including.
