I'd like to see the #'s on this team when the score's within 2 runs either way. I'm sure they have great #'s for bases loaded/risp/runner on 3rd less than 2 outs, but god it seems like they leave empty-handed in close games WAY too often that ends up costing more than not.
I don't know the stats but it couldn't have cost them that much. They have the best record in baseball.  So it's your eyes test against mine.

They have a .752 OPS as a team in games that are within 2 runs or less. They have a .766 OPS overall. So no, there's really nothing there, they just tend to strand more guys in close games vs blowouts because that's what makes it a close game and not a blow out.

.734 OPS in high leverage situations (15th in MLB; top 5: Colorado, Cincinnati, Texas, St. Louis, Cleveland).

Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

I never said they sucked, just that it was a pattern. And ty Shooter for backing me up on that. they're league-avg in high leverage situations, not some juggernaut as I figured.

Good thing today wasn't a one-run game then.

Why can't Lester throw a shutout, Rizzo hit two homers and Bryant and Ross knock in a couple runs each in close games?

Leon Durham. They're all Leon Durham.

Don't tell Dakich that of Durham's 147 career homers, 64 were game-tying or game-winning. That's good, right?

To be fair, 11 of those were in the first inning.

Also, Dakich's representation is dumb. It's like Morgan's "Banks Blvd" comment.

Dakich's Durham Derangement is weird. I am pretty sure Bob Knight pointed to Number 23 in Dakich's second to last collegiate game and said, "Dakich, that is Leon Durham. You are to make sure he doesn't beat us today."
